Boeing 747-400 Ice protection and controls

Описание к видео Boeing 747-400 Ice protection and controls

How do you do everyone! So here we are on our icing story. In this clip, I show you the controls and indications that pertain to engine and wing anti Ice protection on the Boeing 747-400 passenger jet as it was then. The same protections are fitted to all other jets like B787, A350 etc to protect engines and wings. This is how we operate the systems on the Boeing 747-400. All pilots are taught about Carburettor Icing on piston engine aircraft and the need to apply Carburettor heat in flight. Even fuel injected engines can be prone to icing since the air required to mix with the fuel still has to be ducted and icing can occur. On large jet engines, the main thing we want to protect is the air intake. Ice build up can restrict air flow affecting engine thrust. Icing on the wings or tail plane can cause serious airflow disruption leading to aircraft stall with fatal consequences. Pitot heads(Pitot tubes) if blocked by ice if heating elements fail for example can result in incorrect speed information and can cause loss of aircraft control. Ice protection is very important! Take a watch- hope you like it. ‘Chi Di Gin!’ Later!✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️😀
