In this episode, we discover why Berlin is better than we expected!

We finally meet in Qatar after a logistical nightmare of traveling! We are now going to Berlin, Germany, for five days.

This city surprised us on so many levels. The architecture, history, and food were all amazing!

On the first day, we got our bearings around the city and searched for traditional German food. We found a great restaurant that was perfect. The food was so good that I even got to try white asparagus, which happened to be in season. After stuffing our faces, we needed to walk off and marvel at this shopping district.

The next day, we needed to buy clothes for Des. The weather was much different here in Germany and our next destination than Saudi Arabia and Thailand. While packing, we realized Des didn't have many clothes for the colder weather, especially pants.

So, after shopping for him, we stopped at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and explored more of the city. Then, we were lucky enough to score Blueman Group tickets for that evening.

We filled our bellies with Zaddy's pita sandwiches the next day and then drove Northeast. There, we took a tour of the underground tunnels from East Berlin to West Berlin during the Cold War. As a history teacher, I was aware of what had happened during this time, but Joel and the kids weren't. It was amazing to learn even more and see these people's hardships.

We rounded the night off with sushi and rested because tomorrow, we have a three-hour walking tour of this surprising city!
