There are 7 Parts to a Prescription:

1) Name of the Medication

2) Dose

3) Number Taken at a Time

4) Route (e.g. by Mouth)

5) Frequency

6) Number Dispensed

7) Number of Refills

It is Important to Know the Parts of a Prescription Because 21% of Handwritten Prescriptions Have ERRORS... i.e. One or Multiple Parts of the 7 Parts is/are Wrong.

1.5% - 4% of All Prescriptions Contain SERIOUS Errors.

It is Important for Patients to Have a Basic Understanding of What the Prescription Will Be from the Doctor's Office So They Can Verify That It is Correct When It is Filled at the Pharmacy.
