Dinky Toys nr. 178 Mini Clubman Die-Cast Restoration

My first video on the channel. I'm restoring a Dinky Toys Mini Clubman. This model was produced between 1975 and 1980. There were civilian models in various colours and a police car. This is the rather common metallic bronze coloured civilian model.

Overall this model was not in bad shape. The casting and axles were not damaged or bent. However the model had been thoroughly played with. The paint was scratched and missing in places, the windscreen was broken, the doors hung askew and the car was also missing its chrome steering wheel. A replacement window unit and steering wheel were sourced at Model Car Parts in The Netherlands (link below). The steering wheel is not an exact replacement, but the new one is more realistic.

This model has jewelled headlights. I also encountered Dinky Mini Clubman models online where the headlights are part of the casting. I assume these are later models (ca. 1980). Please correct me in the comments, if I’m wrong.
