"You Raise Me Up" was composed by Norwegian composed Rolf Løvland, with lyrics by Irish novelist Brendan Graham.

Rolf Løvland recorded the song with his group Secret Garden (which had won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995) for their 2001 album "Once in a Red Moon".

The song became an international hit when Josh Groban recorded it for his 2003 album "Closer" - it made it to #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart, and received a Grammy nomination in 2005 (for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance")

Other famous covers were recorded by two Irish groups: Westlife and Celtic Woman.
