TARSAR Trek

The Tarsar Marsar trek is one of the most popular treks in Kashmir. Every year, trekkers from all over the country visit Kashmir to check this trek off their bucket list. The best time to do this trek is from June till September. Having missed this slot, we found a series of sunny days in October and decided to go for this trek, instead of waiting for summer next year. And we're so glad that we did. Since we did this trek outside of season, we were lucky to have no other trekkers on the trail making the whole experience unique. The Tarsar Marsar trek has a reward of witnessing three alpine lakes, Tarsar, Marsar and a bonus, Sundarsar lake. The trek starts from Aru valley which is about 12 kilometres from Pahalgam. The first stretch is a long 10 kilometer trek of easy difficulty level till Lidderwat. The next 5 kilometers till Shekwas has a steep beginning for the first kilometer or so and then eases out. The Shekwas to Tarsar stretch is of moderate difficulty, again with distance of about 5 kilometers. With all supplies, you can do this trek easily on your own without having to go with trek organisers. Let me know in the comments if you're planning to go for this trek!
