The Crystal Palace dinosaurs (and other prehistoric animals) are very much out of date. But it's not fair, accurate or interesting to dismiss them for this reason. They are, in fact, among the most accurate renditions of prehistoric life ever made, since they were scrupulously accurate and up-to-the-minute as per the thinking of the early 1850s, the time in which they were made. In this talk, Darren Naish discusses the models and why they need to be better appreciated. This talk was originally given in September 2018 at the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs Days event.
