If you’re looking for part-time work to fit around your studies, a great area to look in is hospitality. Oxford is full of cafés, restaurants and bars, which are always looking for new staff. The main areas to look for this kind of work is the Cowley Road, the city centre and Jericho.

Another great sector to look for part-time work is retail. Oxford has lots of shops in and around the city centre - from small independent stores to bigger chains. Many have vacancies throughout the year - especially over the holidays - so retail is perfect if you’re wanting to earn some extra cash over the Christmas break.

Another area to look into is admin. The best way to do this is to sign up to an agency. Some of the work can be temporary, so if you’re only available for a few weeks, it's a great option. You’ll also learn new skills, which could be relevant to your degree, as well as your future career.

While you’re a student take advantage of your university’s careers service. There may also be jobs within the university that are available too. Oxford Brookes has a great careers service that offers CV writing and mock interview support. There are job opportunities in the on site shops and cafés, as well as student ambassador roles.
