Canción de apertura del animé ドラゴンボール, mejor conocido como Dragon Ball en Hispanoamérica y Bola de Dragón en España. Es interpretado por Hiroki Takahashi en la versión original. La versión en Español americano fue interpretada por Luis de Lille y, en España, por Jordi Vila.
La canción tanto de cierre como de apertura del animé fueron compuestos por Takeshi Ike, compositor recurrente en la banda sonora de Dragon Ball y Z, habiendo compuesto el tema de cierra de éste último. Estos dos canciones fueron utilizadas durante toda la transmisión de la serie desde 1986 a 1989.
El Anison (アニソン)) o Canción de Animé es como se le refieren a las canciones que se creen para esta industria musical que es relevante en los escenarios musicales de Japón desde los años 70 en adelante. Takeshi Ike es un nombre reconocido en esta industria, ya que es uno de los compositores más conocidos por su composiciones para animación como lo es Dragon Ball. Este género musical contiene diferentes características distintivas como sus cantantes, contenido y, sobre todo, su composición: Royal Road Progression es una progresión de acordes famosa entre los compositores de música popular contemporáneo japonesa.
Ike utiliza una forma Verso-Coro (ABA), apareciendo primero el Coro y luego los versos. De igual forma utiliza otras secciones como una Introducción, un Pre-Chorus, Outro, además de un Puente donde se presenta material nuevo.
La introducción brinda gran información, mostrando los instrumentos y sugiriendo los acorces que se utilizaran, los cuales siguen su patron de quintas, cuartas entre otros intervalos usados en la Royal Road Progression, además, las cadencias siguen el clasico patron II-V-I para resolver y finalizar. Siguiendo las tendencias, el contenido lirico posee frases en inglés, como en el Pre-Coro donde se dice "Let's Try, Try, Try" o en el coro nombrando a las "Dragon Ball". El contenido, como es habitual en el Anison, incluye información o referencias a la historia del animé, en este caso habla de la aventura de buscar las Esferas del Dragón, la cual es un fantástica aventura para Gokú.
