The Hapro Roady 350 roof box comes with a fitting kit to attach to steel rectangular roof bars and consists of four u-bolts, four u-bolt plates and eight wing nuts.

Remove the roady 350 from its carton, place the carton flat on the floor and sit the Roady on top to avoid scratching the lid. The Hapro Roady 350 is a self-assembly roof box and the base is packed inside the lid.

Before separating, attach both gas struts to the base, making sure the thicker end of the strut attaches to the base and the hinge closes toward the front of the box. Then simply place over the knuckle on the base and squeeze until you hear a definite “click”.

Now separate the base from the lid by simply lifting out and click them together. To do this there are two yellow contact points on the front of the lid and two on the front of the base which “click” together. One person can do this but you may find it helpful to ask a friend to lend a hand. Once this is complete simply attach the other end of the gas struts to each side of the lid using the same technique as before.

Close the box before lifting onto the car roof bars making sure the keys are out of the box before hand.

Lift the roof box and place the far edge onto the roof bars, then slide flat onto the bars. Now unlock and open the roof box, turning the key 45 degrees and using one hand to grip the base (slightly pulling down) and the other to push up on the lid.

Now loosely fit the u-bolts, plates and wing nuts. Make sure that both sides at the rear use the same fixing hole combination and that both sides at the front use the same fixing hole combination.

Position the box appropriately on the bars; with the fittings loose you are able to slide the box into the right position for your needs. Because of the size of this Hapro 350, you can fit a bike carrier mounted alongside, possibly 2 if using aero bars and adapters.

Once the roof box is in the ideal position and straight on the bars, tighten all eight wing nuts hand tight (5NM) to secure the u-bolt’s.

When loading the roof box, make sure not to obstruct the locks and gas struts, as this will cause problems when you come to shut and lock the box. You can fit a surprising amount of kit inside the Roady 350, as you can see we easily fit a standard sized pushchair, 1 large hold all and 2 average size hold all’s inside. The rear opening also gives you good access from either side - it opens to 50cm wide at the back and 30cm at the side mid-point - making it easy and quick to fit and remove, load and unload
