"The Wax Dolls song was written about fruitless attempts to get past 'aluminium' plated secretaries to get to influential record company movers and shakers. It was so difficult to get their attention that we dreamed of using voodoo dolls ... "I make wax dolls, I stick pins in...". It also contained some sexual innuendo! "To the most exciting places".

Of course now most music companies are owned by light bulb conglomerates or baked bean manufacturers, there are no real secretaries in the building -- probably just a recorded message from an android in Mumbai. Bands now sell t-shirts, designer handbags and not records. Sometimes I feel homesick for little offices crammed with music loving chaos, where most jobs got done well by lunchtime; before the senior management were comatosed and BJs were as predominant as CVs and PCs."
