What is the ARC (Audio Return Channel) Feature?

Описание к видео What is the ARC (Audio Return Channel) Feature?

Today I will talk about such an important HDMI function as ARC or Audio Return Channel, or as it is also called - the reversive audio channel.
In simple terms, the ARC protocol allows you to transmit sound from a TV to a connected soundbar, set-top box or receiver over a single HDMI cable. Thus, ARC creates a two-way communication channel between the TV and another device. It is convenient, since there is no need to use optical or any other cables in the system. In addition, by connecting the audio system to the TV via HDMI ARC, we will be able to control it with the TV remote control. That is, when you turn on the TV, the soundbar turns on, the volume is also controlled by the TV remote control. When you turn off the TV, the soundbar will turn off.
Audio can be sent both ways if both devices have ARC support. If one of the devices does not support ARC, then you will need to use an additional audio cable to transmit sound in both directions.
Determining if your devices support the ARC function is very simple: one of the HDMI connectors on the device must be marked ARC.
For the ARC function to work, the CEC function must be enabled on both devices, we have already talked about CEC in more detail in this video.
Additionally, before connecting devices via ARC, you need to make sure that your HDMI cable is labeled High-Speed HDMI. A very cheap HDMI cable most likely won’t support this feature.
The HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI ARC input of the TV and the HDMI ARC output of the soundbar. We turn on the CEC and ARC functions on the TV and enjoy the system.
If you have any questions, please always ask them down below in the comments and I’ll see you in the next video.

HDMI ARC is designed to reduce the number of cables between your TV and an external Home Theatre System or Soundbar. The audio signal is capable of traveling both ways to and from the speakers, which will improve the sound quality and latency of the signal.

The Audio Return Channel (ARC) connects your TV and audio system with a single High Speed HDMI® cable and eliminates the need for an additional composite audio or optical cable.

Connecting an ARC-compatible audio system to an ARC-compatible TV allows the following:
Send audio from the TV to the audio system.
View and listen to movies and other content sent from the audio system and viewed on the TV.
To connect an ARC-compatible audio system to an ARC-compatible TV
HDMI ARC compatible
An additional optical or analog audio cable is required to send sound to the audio system if either the TV or audio system isn't ARC-compatible

Connection when either the TV or audio system isn't ARC-compatible

Note:
A High Speed HDMI Cable is needed to enable the ARC function.
