In What If? Volume 1, Issue 10, titled What If Jane Foster Had Found the Hammer of Thor?, we explore an alternate reality where Jane Foster, instead of Donald Blake, finds Thor's enchanted hammer, Mjolnir. After discovering the walking stick that transforms into the hammer, Jane strikes it against a rock and is imbued with the powers of Thor. She becomes "Thordis," the Goddess of Thunder.

Throughout the issue, Thordis battles several of Thor's iconic foes, including the Kronans and Loki, using her newfound strength and abilities. She also joins the Avengers, but feels somewhat out of place as the only woman in a male-dominated group. However, she proves herself time and again, helping the team and defending Earth.

Eventually, Odin summons "Thor" back to Asgard, expecting his son, but is instead greeted by Jane as Thordis. After a series of events, Odin lifts the banishment on Thordis and grants her the status of a goddess for her heroism. However, the hammer is ultimately returned to Donald Blake, who becomes Thor once again. As a reward for her sacrifice and bravery, Odin proposes to Jane Foster, and she becomes Queen of Asgard, while Thor rekindles his relationship with Lady Sif.
