Huge roll over FV crash @ Mid-Ohio SCCA Super Tour

Описание к видео Huge roll over FV crash @ Mid-Ohio SCCA Super Tour

With only a few laps left in the Sunday Super Tour race at Mid Ohio, following my Dad and another driver who had been battling hard for 30 minutes, there was an unfortunate accident. The driver was OK, as of tonight, the extent of injury was general soreness. He expects to have the car put back together for the June Sprints, having participated in the event for 45 years now. The two drivers involved have raced together for decades, were joking as we loaded up the trailer together. We had put Terry Abbot stickers on our cars this weekend, and Patty Abbott may point out that Bill had and angel looking over him when he put that sticker on. The last picture is a giant card I made my Dad when he had one of these wrecks over 30 years ago, I had it framed about 10 years ago. We were very fortunate, this could have been a lot worse.

I will say shame on SCCA for not red flagging this immediately, there was only a local yellow with a driver upside down at the bottom of a blind corner/hill. They put workers and drivers at risk, you can see the workers on track, poorly protected. The workers at Mid-Ohio did such a great job this weekend and I thank them for their service. I hope this is a learning experience for race control and this NEVER is allowed to happen again.
