Vintage Fender 5F6-A Tweed Bassman Circuit Schematic Discrepancies - Part 1

Описание к видео Vintage Fender 5F6-A Tweed Bassman Circuit Schematic Discrepancies - Part 1

This video is a precursor to another video or two that I will do explaining the differences in the old Fender 5F6-A schematic that everyone is familiar with and the factory modifications Fender did to the actual amps in late 1959, early 1960 but did not document them in the old schematic. It is fairly obvious when you look at the new reissue Bassman 5F6-A schematic that they knew of the changes and went with their favorite variation for the reissue. My original 1960 5F6-A circuit matches the reissue schematic almost exactly except for this 56K ohm resistor I show in this video that is on the Middle potentiometer. I did not think it was original but after removing it, I put it back on because it may be original. Removing it seemed to make the amp a little darker and bassier. Maybe it was a mod to make the amp more guitar friendly. It was very easy to solder the lead back on and test drive it again. I am not exactly sure what that resistor does to the signal so it could be I am imagining it but I will definitely leave it on. It seems to sound better with it on. I am going to add it to my 1959 Bassman just for fun to see if I notice a difference. Part 2 will come when I get all of my parts that I need to make the changes to the 1959 Bassman. I will have them side-by-side so you can see what I am doing. If anyone has ever seen this 56K ohm resistor on another Middle pot, please let me know.

Also, a top name brand boutique amp company in Austin is going to send me their new Bassman clone hopefully soon. They want to see how it stacks up against this 1960 amp. It will be a new product for them although they have another amp that is very close to a Bassman. If it sounds great, you guys will have another option in owning a Bassman for less than half of what a real one cost.
