Excel average function is generally used to find average in excel. This is one of the most used functions in excel. Let’s learn how to calculate average in excel by learning the use of average function in excel.

Average Function returns the average of its arguments that can be names, numbers, references or arrays that contain numbers.
The Average function looks like this
= Average (Number1, Number2, …)

There is only one parameter or argument for average function.
1. Number: here you can select the number, arrays, names or references from which you need to find average. You can use this Parameter 255 times in one formula.

Average function can find average from up to 255 parameters at a time.
There are some important facts of Average and they are given below.
1. It doesn’t count an empty cell as input
2. It doesn’t count text as input.
So, as long as you are inserting number you’ll be able to calculate average in excel. In short, it is a function that gets the average of a range of cells in excel.
