STORYLINE
Serbia on Wednesday marked the fifth anniversary of the assassination of its first democratically elected prime minister, Zoran Djindjic.
Serbia's caretaker prime minister, Vojislav Kostunica, and members of his cabinet laid a wreath outside government headquarters where Djindjic was killed by a sniper in 2003.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Belgrade thousands of people marched to mark the occasion, while others gathered at Belgrade's cemetery to lay flowers and light candles in Djindjic's memory.
Djindjic led a popular uprising in 2000 that helped remove Slobodan Milosevic from power.
