Black powder double barrel shotgun.

Описание к видео Black powder double barrel shotgun.

Here in North Carolina, Dove season opens in two days. I few days ago I decided to try taking a few doves with an original double barrel black powder percussion shotgun. The gun was assembled/made in London by W. Richard’s sometime between 1855-1878. The barrels have Birmingham proof marks. It is 11 gauge. I bought this shotgun from the estate of a fellow Civil War Reenactor several years ago. I had not fired it until two days ago. Since we are so close to opening day of dove season, I did not have a chance to order proper shot cushions or overshot cards, so I punched my own. They seem to work quite well.
This is not a real scientific or highly methodical test of the pattern. It was more of a “Let’s see what this does” spur of the moment trip. My 11 year old daughter was filming so I apologize for the unsteady camera. I am more of a no fluff-just facts kind of guy, so I decided to just go with it. It was fun and I was surprised at how many pellets were in the circle. I feel confident that birds within 25-30 yards had better look out. I don’t think it will be the shotgun’s fault if I don’t bring meat home, especially if they get within the tested range.
