Mixing midi drums ain't the same as mixing real drums.

As much as I love midi drums (half of the projects I'm hired to mix feature midi drums), you can almost never mix them like you would REAL drums.

​This is an area where so many home studio owners go wrong.

​​Spikey, weird, over-compressed, plasticky-sounding drum tracks all because of this common mixing mistake.​

​The problem is that drum software companies do their best to make these tools sound killer straight out of the box.

​Because of this, the usual EQ and compression techniques that pro mixers teach in tutorials will often yield disastrous results when applied to your midi drums.

​So the question is...how should you be mixing your midi drums for the best results?
