Maxim, how long have you been in this profession? What made you decide to become a hairdresser?

Maxim:
I have been in this profession for 14 years. The reason I became a hairdresser was banal. I did not want to make my studies. Until the ninth grade I studied well. After completing the ninth grade, I went into choosing a profession. A profession that I can acquire in a minimum amount of time. My choice was made in favor of a cook and a hairdresser. So I told my mother that I would like to become a hairdresser. My mother said: ‘Ok’. I had just completed the tenth grade. So she advised me to study with Torjevks Nadejda Vasilevna. She was our family hairdresser. And I started to work in the hair salon. I worked there all summer. So I liked the profession more. I almost didn’t attend the eleventh grade. I would get only two points for chemistry. By chance my chemistry teacher found herself in my chair. She told me that she understood the reason why I dropped my studies. I made her a haircut and dyed her hair. So she was satisfied with the wok done. At the end of the year I got four points for chemistry . Like that I became a hairdresser.

HairstylePub:
What inspires you? Inspiration is an integral part of our profession. In the event of crisis situations, where to find inspiration?

Maxim:
I think that anything can get you inspired. You can find it in music or architecture. You can find it by traveling. For instance I find my inspiration on Instagram. I follow people that are of my great interest. Traveling makes me inspired. Now it is rare, by movies or videos could help me to find inspiration.

HairstylePub:
Did you face a situation where you had to stop following your principles for the sake of others at your workplace?

Maxim:
We are working in the service sector. In my opinion providing quality service is based on the straying from your principles. It is a rare case when we make a haircut that we like. Our main objective is to satisfy our clients. And we should make them happy. For instance, your client requires a bob haircut. In your turn you reassure him or her about the fact that this haircut is out of trend. So you suggest a short haircut. In most cases at the end your client is dissatisfied. It is like if you order borscht but you get served with okroshka in a restaurant. That is why at our workplaces we have to sacrifice our principles.

HairstylePub:
What do you think about the expression ‘happy customer’?

Maxim:
A happy customer is a satisfied customer. A customer satisfied with a service and his/her look

HairstylePub:
How a beginner can achieve success in our profession? Please define three factors.

Maxim:
Hardworking, hardworking and, last but not least, it is hardworking.. If you got talent but you do not work hard you won’t achieve success. A successful worker should work a lot, (minimum 12 hours) especially, at the very beginning of his or her career.

HairstylePub:
When and how did you get the idea of creating academy?

Maxim:
The creation of the academy is Marina Konikosvka’s idea. In my opinion the lack of professional staff pushes for creation of an academy. Also, I think that easier to provide a worker with necessary skills and knowledge rather than to find or to involve into the professional team.

HairstylePub:
Every year your academy releases new collections. Could you tell more about the creation process, team work and the implementation of ideas?

Maxim:
The release of a collection requires work of many professionals. All our directors are involved in this process too. We gather together, discuss and think a lot about new trends. Our collections are focused both on customers and hairdressers. On the one hand we try to inspire our customers and on the other hand we inform hairdressers about new tendencies.

HairstylePub:
What is your trend predictions for 2017? Haircut trend both for women and men.

Maxim:
When talking about customers… I tend to say that trend is what suits you most.. When talking about the academy and the professional activity… I tend to believe that medium length haircuts, both long and short bangs are trending. Jagged bangs remain on trend too.
