Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families in the BARMM 5/23/2024

Following his visit in Tawi-Tawi, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads another distribution of various assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families affected by the El Niño during a ceremony at the Datu Abdullah Sangki (DAS) Sports Complex in Maguindanao del Sur on May 23, 2024.

With its full commitment, the Office of the President (OP) provides PhP10,000 each to select farmers and fisherfolk from three (3) provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as well as PhP30 million to the Provincial Governments of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

Furthermore, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributes PhP10,000 each to 10,000 beneficiaries while the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez hands out five (5) kilos of rice to each attendee.

In line with the provision of assistance, the Department of Agriculture (DA) - National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is continuously monitoring the Malitubog-Maridagao Irrigation Project II (MMIP-II) which aims not only to increase agricultural productivity and livelihood but also to improve peace and order in the Region.

Likewise, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Health (DOH) and other concerned agencies are working collaboratively to address the challenges posed by both El Niño and La Niña in the BARMM.
