Bickerton Hill

Описание к видео Bickerton Hill

Around 1971, whilst in my mid-teens, I went on a weekend Army Cadet camp in rural Cheshire. One evening I climbed the hill above our tented site to look for the remains of an Iron Age hill fort which was marked on the Ordnance Survey map. From there I watched a thunderstorm unfold across the Cheshire Plain. A magical moment when the past, and nature itself, seemed to call to me.
This song attempts to captures that moment and works in themes around the myths, legends and history of the greater Cheshire area.
I must acknowledge inspiration from the Irish folk singer Cara Dillion. Her song ‘Hill of Thieves’ encouraged me to write down my own musings, then (at a later date) compose a suitable tune for them.
