Sardacharan Mitra and Akshaya Chandra Sarkar published a collection of Vaishnava Padavali called 'Anthology of Ancient Poems'. As a teenager, poet Rabindranath Tagore read that collection with special interest and attention. And at that time the poet thought that he too would compose a poem shrouded in mystery.

Bhanusingher Padavali is a book of poetry written in Brajabuli language by Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath composed some verses in imitation of Vaishnava poets under the pseudonym "Bhanusingha Tagore" in his youth and early youth. In 1884 those poems were published as Padavali of Bhanusingha Tagore. The poems were #rabindrajayanti published in Bharti Patrika at various times before being published in the book.

The poet wrote in his memories,
"... On that cloudy day, I sat down on the bed in a room inside the house and took a slate and wrote 'Gahan Kusumkunj Majhe'. I was very happy to write it."
