This October 29, 2024 State Plan on Aging Guidance Update and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) overview webinar, which is designed to advance the policy goals of the Older Americans Act (OAA). These goals include equity in service delivery, advocacy on behalf of older adults and family caregivers, appropriate stewardship of funds, and efficient administration and oversight of these public programs.

The new State Plan on Aging guidance is consistent with the OAA as amended in 2020 and reflects changes to the OAA program regulations effective March 15, 2024. This webinar will serve as a guide for states and territories drafting state plans and state plan amendments that take effect on or after October 1, 2025. The webinar will also help states and territories needing the CAP process to comply with the 2025 OAA final rule implementation and other requirements.

State Plans:
• Document the tangible outcomes expected from state long-term care reform efforts.
• Translate activities, data, and outcomes into proven best practices, which can be used to leverage additional funding.
• Provide a blueprint for coordination and advocacy activities the state will undertake to meet the needs of older adults, including integrating health and social services delivery systems.
• Build capacity for long-term care efforts in the state.
CAPs are established via a collaborative process. When it is determined that a grantee is not in compliance with one or more statutory, regulatory, or other requirements, ACL may require a grantee to submit a plan to come into compliance.
