Budget to Boost Mumbai’s growth and development – MLA Ameet Satam
Mumbai: Terming the Union Budget presented today by the Modi government as development-oriented, growth-oriented, and pragmatic, Mumbai BJP President and MLA Ameet Satam said that the Centre has announced major initiatives for Mumbai, the country’s financial capital. These measures will significantly accelerate the city’s development and, in turn, generate employment. Today’s budget fosters growth to make India Vishwa Guru, said Mumbai BJP President MLA Ameet Satam, adding that India has become the world’s fourth-largest economy and the fastest economy to recover from COVID-19.
Speaking about the budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MLA Satam said that it includes the announcement of seven high-speed rail corridors across the country, one of which is the Mumbai–Pune corridor. “This will make transportation between these two major cities faster and more convenient,” said MLA Ameet Satam.
MLA Ameet Satam highlighted that the tax exemptions for TBM manufacturers will have a significant impact on the “Paatal Lok” project. Conceptualized by CM Devendra Fadnavis, this ambitious 70-km underground tunnel network designed to revolutionize Mumbai’s traffic. “Currently, 13 metro projects are underway in Mumbai. For tunnel boring machines (TBMs) required for metro tunnels, India was dependent on imports. In today’s Union Budget, tax exemptions have been announced for local TBM manufacturers. This will greatly help Mumbai’s Paatal Lok project. Moreover, this decision will end India’s dependence on China and other countries for TBMs and will encourage domestic production,” added MLA Ameet Satam.
MLA Ameet Satam further said the setting up 'SHE-Marts' will further strengthen the network of self-help groups in the state. “The budget has announced the establishment of malls for women’s self-help groups, which will greatly benefit our Ladki Bahins engaged in self-employment. In large cities, municipal bonds valued at over Rs 1,000 crore will receive an incentive grant of Rs 100 crore. The BMC, being Asia’s largest and wealthiest municipal body, will benefit significantly from this bond incentive,” said MLA Ameet Satam.
MLA Ameet Satam also noted that Finance Minister Sitharaman announced financial assistance for the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Mumbai to establish Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics Content Creator laboratories in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges. “In this budget, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector has been given the status of a growth engine, with liquidity of Rs 7 lakh crore. This will further accelerate the growth of Mumbai’s industrial sector as large number of MSMEs are registered in Mumbai and will provide a significant boost to employment generation," said MLA Ameet Satam.
