FNB Innovation Awards take Local Entrepreneurs to scale...
“FNB Innovation Awards is the most prestigious award for a business that has the highest potential to grow and scale. Endeavor SA’s role is to find these gems out there in South Africa,” says Catherine Townshend, MD of Endeavor South Africa explaining the partnership. She continues that Endeavor’s criteria are very specific and will consider both the business and the individual (the entrepreneur). To be considered, the business in question would need to be turning over a minimum of R10 Million per annum, be founder lead and “...unique in the sense that it offers its own product, system, technology or process that has the ability to scale not only in South Africa, but also potentially in other markets around the world,” says Townshend.
How to enter the FNB Innovation Awards…
Entries are submitted online and are directed to the Endeavor team who will immediately begin assessing the entry against the criteria. “If a business has been around for a few years, we already know that it is a good business and so there is no debate around whether or not it will succeed. The crux of the matter lies in whether or not the business is going to go to the next level and whether or not the entrepreneur has the aspiration to turn it into a global organisation.”

The opportunity for an open exchange with top business mentors...
The initial submission will require basic company information, why the business is unique, an explanation as to where the business is in terms of the overall growth trajectory, and a motivation for how the entrepreneur believes Endeavor can help the business in reaching its growth goals. Once the minimum criteria have been met, entrants will be invited to attend a number of interviews. These interviews will take place with the Endeavor mentor network which will guide entrants to ask themselves (and be asked) some very tough questions, as well as open the door to free knowledge and world class advice on how to scale their businesses.
Following the interviews, the businesses’ fit with Endeavor will be assessed and entrants will be asked to attended a two-day evaluation panel with other mentors. Townshend says that the mentors are approaching the process with the intention of assisting entrants to grow their businesses, not to criticise the business and the way it is being run. The panel will also be responsible for assessing whether or not the entrants are ready to go to an international panel.

Access to a global platform, global leaders, and global answers
The final round will involve entrants presenting to the global Endeavor panel where they will have access to a global networking platform, global leaders, and global answers to some of the issues that they face in terms of scaling their businesses.
