A questioner is looking for a simple way of connecting with God. How can she experience God’s presence in a way that is not merely intellectual?

Rupert explains: ‘The quickest, easiest, and most direct way is to take the thought, “I am”, and to allow yourself to be drawn into that to which the words refer. Because God’s being, or God’s presence, is that which shines in us as the knowledge “I am” before what I am is qualified by experience. God’s being is our being. In other words, our knowledge of our self is God’s knowledge of himself or itself.

‘That’s why, in all religions, “I am”, is said to be God’s name. It is the name that God gives to itself. When you say God’s name, it takes you directly to the experience of being – God’s infinite being. So the name “I am” is the portal through which we as individuals pass on our way to God’s presence.’
