In this video, we are specifically talking about $1518 monthly Social Security benefit checks if a certain piece of legislation makes its way through Congress. As of right now, there are multiple pieces of legislation in Congress to increase Social Security benefits, to adjust the way the annual cost of living adjustment is calculated, canceling benefits prior to full retirement age, flattening out Social Security benefits, starting a nationwide guarantee basic income program, and so much more, there's many different ideas, plans, proposals and packages within Congress right now to reform Social Security and increase Social Security benefits. One of the provisions is to increase benefits up to 125% of the federal poverty line. As a result of that, we are discussing the federal poverty line here in this video as we all ask how this would impact Social Security checks on a monthly basis and what this monthly check would look like.
