Austin's Mohair Socks is a online business with a friendly family face. We have been selling our socks for over 25 years.
What is Mohair you ask? Well, Mohair is the fiber you get when you shear an Angora Goat. We only use the FIRST shearing which is called Kid Mohair, it is the softest and the finest of the hair you will get from the goat.
Our socks are 75% kid mohair, 25% nylon. Machine Washable on cold, HANG TO DRY.
They come in Natural creamy white, black and gray. I also hand dye the white ones pink.
They are long lasting and durable, I have multiple customers with the same pair for over 10 years.
Mohair is called the Dimond fiber, it has the same tensile strength as steel but soft as silk. It naturally wicks the moisture away from your foot, thus keeping your foot warm and dry in any season.
Our socks have been all over the world including Mt Everest. I joke around saying,
"If our socks have been on top of the world, why aren't they on the bottom of your feet?"
We have sold to hikers all over America including Hawaii and Arizona, Skiers in Colorado, Hunters in Minnesota and Montana.
We have also sold to people in Australia, Canada, Japan, South America, Germany and more. If you look at our website it has a map of some of our clients locations.
I have met people standing in line at Heathrow Airport who had been to our farm and loved our socks. My niece met a walrus trainer at a zoo wearing our socks, my sister in law met a ski instructor who told her she should wear these great socks to keep her feet warm, they were in Alaska. Yes, he was wearing our Mohair socks.
Its pretty amazing how wearing or giving these socks can give such comfort. When your feet are warm, dry and cushioned, its a real luxury.
