In this Live Stream Practice Vlog, I walk you through a real, unedited practice session. The goal is to show you how effective practice actually works in real time, not a polished performance. You’ll see how I make decisions on the fly, adjust based on my goals for the day, and respond when things don’t go as planned.

You’ll see mistakes happen and, more importantly, how to deal with them productively by repeating material, spot rehearsing problem areas, or adjusting standards. Along the way, you’ll pick up practical ideas you can immediately apply to your own practice sessions.

Although I’m usually practicing on bass, the concepts in these sessions apply to any instrument. The instrument matters far less than the process. When you understand how to practice, you can make real progress every time you sit down to play.
In this live stream, we focus on arpeggios, starting from the basics and moving into more advanced patterns. We work through triad arpeggios in major keys on a four-string bass, covering four different keys. You’ll see standard fingerings, alternative patterns, and strategies for breaking up patterns when open strings come into play.

We also focus on thinking of chords in terms of major and minor thirds, which makes it easier to move arpeggio shapes anywhere on the fretboard. This session is ideal for beginners learning arpeggios for the first time, as well as more experienced players who want clearer patterns and greater flexibility across the neck.
