Never use this cheap, no-name buck converter (LM2596S clone) anywhere near a vehicle's electrical system. Unless you enjoy conducted emissions. These modules may look harmless and cost next to nothing, but they combine zero filtering with a complete disregard for EMC requirements.

Tested in a CISPR 25-compliant conducted emissions test setup, the buck converter exceeds the limits at multiple frequencies even for Class 1 limits, the least stringent category. And it does so even at just half of its rated output current.

These emissions don't just stay local; they propagate along the wiring harness and couple into other circuits. In a car it means interference propagating straight through the wiring harness, potentially upsetting sensitive radio receivers that were never designed to deal with this kind of broadband garbage.
