Many more bicycle lock-ups are required at this Park - to accommodate the cycling traffic that would use the park's great connection to the Martin Goodman Trail (at it southwest corner) if the active transportation connections from the neighbourhoods north were better - and amenities at the park enabled that transportation choice. A state of the art bicycle paddock where the East parking lot is would do nicely.
Parking lot should be halved in square footage and a green space with water features should be installed along the west side of the fields to shade and cool field users who will need to do so regularly as they play on the hot plastic carpet that's been installed there. Water fountains and water features should be all over this park.
Canals to the Lake to aid in flood control is a land-use vision for the entire Port Lands precinct that I presented at the beginning of the Acceleration Initiative. As a part of this particular development it would be very beautiful - and utilitarian.
The existing greening and landscaping (not including the plastic turf) make the place feel great - water would make the place magnificent! Extend water to the children's play area to the north of the playing fields as well.
