In Coming Home, the authors repeat the formula of The Great War, demonstrating various aspects of the war through the immersion of the main characters in them - the everyday life of a submarine crew, air battles to the tune of Beethoven, stealth pursuit of a German spy, etc. The authors of the sequel discovered three new game characters (two of which were guessed in a minimal part): this African-American James, who sent his brother Fredda from the second part of the retinue to the rescue, the English pilot George and the German sailor Ernst.
