I decided to build my own DIY Electrician’s Camper Van Conversion – a van that works just as hard on site as it does on the road. This setup is half work van, half camper, designed for both work and travel.

Most electricians and tradesmen end up in hotels or Airbnbs when they’re working away… but with tool theft at an all-time high, I didn’t want to risk leaving my van full of kit in a car park overnight. Instead, I’ve built something secure, practical, and comfortable that I can live out of when I’m travelling the country.

In this video, I’ll give you a full tour of how I’ve transformed my van:

Raised floor with secure pull-out tool drawers

Pop-top roof for standing space + sleeping

Bench seat with cushions for a chill-out area

Fold-out table for eating + laptop work

Outdoor cooking + work drawer

Off-grid solar charging for tools + devices

Soft flooring to make it liveable

This isn’t a finished project yet – I still want to add heating, maybe a leisure battery, and possibly even cut in a window – but right now it’s already changed the way I work, travel, and live on the road.
