Slingsby Gin and Tonic

A staple for Gin drinkers, this classic combination of Gin, Tonic, Ice and Slice originates from the 1820’s when Officers in the British army where struggling with a malaria epidemic in India. Combining Quinine from the “Fever Tree” with sugar and water the officers not only had created an anti-malaria medicine but had inadvertently a classic drink when they combine this “Indian Tonic Water” with gin to make the medicine taste better. This iteration of the classic drink calls for a pink grapefruit twist which is the citrus base in the gin, the oils from the fruit help to soften off the pepperiness of the juniper berries.
