What would you do if you discovered that your child is autistic? This was the question facing Milan Singh as she started her journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning the meaning of parenting, with her son, Samar. Join her in this talk, as she recalls the long and winding journey of raising a child with autism, in a heavily neurotypical world, and the ways in which a strengths-based approach can allow for a deep, loving, and fulfilling life for the child as well as the parent. Milan Singh is a businesswoman, an advocate for neurodiverse experiences, and moreover, the mother of an autistic child. Together, they run an Instagram page called ‘thebiggishboy’ to raise awareness about all aspects of autism. The page has over 40k followers, and many of their reels have millions of views. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
