Shakti Samanta almost cancelled Aradhana with Rajesh Khanna

Shakti Samanta almost cancelled shooting the Rajesh Khanna starrer Aradhana movie. The reason being that Shakti Samanta came to know that writer Sachin Bhowmick had written the story of Aradhana movie very similar to another movie that was due for release. Another problem was that Sharmila Tagore wasn't keen to play mother to a grown up Rajesh Khanna.
