INSULA by Eric Alexander

An Island in the middle of Lake Maggiore in Italy, where in the solace of a winter evening, the magical atmosphere of this enchanted place surrounded by mountains could very well turn into a nightmare for Bianca, a young diabetic woman alone, disoriented and terrorized by a hypoglicemic crisis which is about to consume her.

But Bianca, after trying unsuccessfully to get help from her friends and
family, discovers she has a new fundamental reference point in her life: her doctor.
The story of a desperate attempt of rescue trying to find the light in the belief that often the greatest suffering for a patient is that of feeling like an "island".

Un isola in mezzo al lago, una sera d'inverno e la solitudine di un luogo suggestivo buttato in mezzo ai monti...questa magica atmosfera puo' trasformarsi in un incubo per una giovane donna diabetica sola, spaesata e con una crisi ipoglicemica che sta per consumarla.

Ma Bianca, dopo aver tentato inutilmente di trovare aiuto da amici e parenti, scopre di avere un nuovo, fondamentale punto di riferimento nella sua vita: il suo medico.
Il racconto di un salvataggio disperato per riaccendere una luce, nella convinzione che forse la patologia più grande per un malato è sentirsi isola.
