Filmed 06/09/09. 46115 Scots Guardsman departs St Helens Junction working 1Z59 1658 York-Liverpool Lime Street, Railway Touring Company's "The St. Helen's Girl Guiding Express" tour.

Scots Guardsman worked a private WCRC charter the previous day from Preston to Scarborough, and was due to head straight back to Carnforth Steamtown to be renumbered and renamed to run in the guise of 46168 The Girl Guide, a locomotive of the same type that was scrapped in 1964, however sadly she failed working the private charter on the previous day. WCRC kindly held the stock from the previous day's outing (which would be our stock to York) at Preston instead of Carnforth, and managed to change the names over on one side of the train (The side the platform was on in this case).

The tour ran to re-enact a bygone scene where a special train carrying girl guides ran from St Helens to York during World War II. The tour ran very well, and the guides kept their part of the train very tidy so not much cleaning on my part was involved! We also managed to arrive into St Helens Junction an hour early, before the tour headed into Liverpool to drop the regular passengers off.
