Preparation of Iron (Ill) Acetate Or Ferrous (lIl) acetate [ Fe(CH3CO2)2 ]

Start by adding 96 ml of acetic acid ( vinegar ) in measuring cylinder. then pour the acetic acid in beaker . now measure 4.5 ml of hydrogen peroxide and add it into the acetic acid. it is not
compulsory to add hydrogen peroxide I am using it to proceed the reaction fast. now add the iron source in acetic acid solution and heat the solution and wait for one hour to complete the reaction. after one hour remove all the remaining pieces of iron and evaporate all the water after evaporating you will get a brown colour substance this your iron acetate.

Information

Iron(III) acetate is a coordination complex with formula Fe(O₂CCH₃)₂. It is a white solid, although impure samples can be slightly colored. A light green tetrahydrate is also known, which is highly soluble in water.
