Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin recently completed an overseas tour to Germany and the United Kingdom, and the trip has brought in large new investments for the state. During the eight-day visit, Tamil Nadu signed 33 agreements with companies, worth about ₹15,500 crore in total. These projects are expected to create over 17,000 new jobs across different industries.

One of the biggest deals was with the Hinduja Group, which pledged to invest ₹7,500 crore to expand Tamil Nadu’s electric vehicle and battery ecosystem. This project alone will create more than a thousand new jobs. Global pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca also announced a new round of investment to grow its technology centre in Chennai, marking its third expansion in the state within two years.

In Germany, several companies signed agreements covering renewable energy, chemicals, and manufacturing. Firms like Vensys Energy and BASF pledged large sums, and BMW and other German manufacturers promised to expand their operations in Tamil Nadu. The state also secured a partnership to bring Germany’s well-known dual vocational training model to benefit local youth.

In the UK, agreements were reached in aerospace, defence, shipbuilding, and advanced manufacturing. A new facility to make RFID tags was confirmed, alongside educational collaborations with universities and design schools to train students in global standards. Talks with major names like Rolls-Royce also opened the door for future defence and aerospace projects.

This is the largest set of investments secured by Stalin on any foreign trip so far. Beyond the money and jobs, the deals highlight Tamil Nadu’s growing reputation as a hub for modern industries such as electric vehicles, clean energy, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace. The trip also included cultural outreach, with events to connect with the Tamil diaspora and celebrate the state’s identity abroad.
