VOCALOID: A Personal Retrospective

If you’ve even remotely dipped your toe into the world of Japanese pop culture, you’ll already be familiar with Hatsune Miku. But who is she, really? Moreover, what does she represent?

I’ve loved Vocaloid for over a decade, since shortly after Miku’s first sounds rippled through the internet. I don’t profess to be an expert, nor would I call this video an introduction. Here, I simply take you on a half an hour trip down the rabbit hole of my personal experience with this electronic phenomenon. Seasoned fans and greenhorns (bluehorns?) are equally welcome, it’ll be fun regardless.
