Heat flux intensity manipulation adds an additional layer of control to Laser Powder Bed Fusion process. In this talk, we will dive into the physical aspects of how the laser heat flux distribution affects the behavior of the melt pool. Precise control of the melt pool is a key factor for improving the stability and productivity of the process. Special attention will be given to non-Gaussian laser intensity distributions.
