Shakespeare Mobile Digital Theatre Research Project

This production, a research project funded by VTC, aims to create an innovative digital street performance that explores the psychological experiences of the audience. Additionally, it serves as a platform for investigating the use of cutting-edge technology in Mobile (portable) Theater, combining experimental and academic research. Furthermore, this project has been presented by Dr. Pauline Hall and Dr. Selina Chan in the Cumulus International Conference 2016—an annual forum devoted to high-end design innovation. It stands as a significant initiative to promote the development of the multimedia, digital, and theater industries in Hong Kong.

Synopsis
Transcribed from William Shakespeare's renowned romantic comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," this performance depicts four lovers embarking on their pursuit of love after being sprinkled with the juice from the Love Flowers. Guided by the mischievous fairy Puck, these young lovers ultimately discover true love, culminating in a joyous and harmonious conclusion.

Production Crew
The theater production team consists of teaching staff from the Hong Kong Design Institute and dedicated professionals from the creative industries. They are passionately committed to offering opportunities for young designers to engage in theater productions and receive training.

A Modern Fusion of Shakespearean Tradition
Our production features an adapted excerpt from Shakespeare's timeless comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." This performance seamlessly blends visual projection, theatrical elements, and live music, creating a fusion of both traditional and contemporary styles to celebrate Shakespeare's enduring legacy spanning 400 years.

In pursuit of experimental design in mobile theater, we will present a 15-minute segment from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to assess the potential and feasibility of this performance concept before staging a full-length production.
