Welcome & Announcements

Prelude

*Call To Worship
L: Our merciful God, maker of us all,
P: pleads the cause of the poor and afflicted.
L: Open our hearts to demonstrate God’s grace
P: through Jesus Christ our Lord.

*Opening Hymn: Come, Thou Almighty King #139
Prayer of Confession
Let us confess our sins to the Lord who surrounds us with favor forevermore. God of favor, we have not been true to you. You have chosen the poor in the world, but we have dishonored them. You plead the cause of the afflicted, but we crush them. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have favored the rich and despised the poor. We have dismissed the needy with empty words. Soften our hearts and make straight our ways. Heal our unbelief and turn us back to you. (Time for silent confession.) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
The mercy of our God triumphs over judgment through our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, who has pleaded our cause, forgiven our sin, healed our sickness and delivered us from evil.

*Gloria Patri: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

*Passing of the Peace
Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you
People: And also with you. (please greet one another with the peace of Christ)

Offertory Holy Manna arr. Joel Raney

*Doxology: Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise God all creatures here below. Praise God above, you heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen

*Hymn of Preparation: Great Is Thy Faithfulness #276

Prayers of God’s People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Announcements:
Congregational meeting will be held on September 22nd at 9:45am in the sanctuary for the purpose of electing Deacons.

Save the Date
Annual Tunk and Treat festival will be held October 24th!

Boy Scouts (now Scouting America) holds a monthly meeting (Roundtable) of Sweetwater District Scout Leaders and Scouts in our FLC. On Thursday, September 12, they will host a 30-minute program on "Fentanyl Epidemic and Our Youth." The guest speaker will be James Fontaine, Chief of the Major Narcotics Division of the County's District Attorney's office. This enlightening (and probably disturbing) program is appropriate for all ages 12 and up. Church members, parents, teens, friends, and interested others are invited to join us in the FLC. Program starts at 7:00pm.

Presbyterian Women (PW)
PW's next meeting is September 27th at 9:30am in the Family Life Center when we will host the Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery. Guest speakers will share their Churchwide Gathering experience with us. A lesson on lesser known women of the bible will also be given. Following the presentations, a delicious lunch will be served for $5.00. Please give your payment to Wilma Pichon by September 22nd. All are invited to join the fun fellowship with PWP women. Questions ask Jil McGrievy 619-420-2214.

Prayer Quilt Ministry
Our next Prayer Quilt Ministry sewing day is Friday, September 13th at 9:00am in the Mission Room. Our quilts are given to folks who need prayers. They are made and given with love and prayers. The supply of quilts is dwindling, come and enjoy the fellowship of putting these quilt tops together. If you are unable to come on the sewing day, consider taking a quilt kit home to sew; check with Carol Ann Vorce if you are interested in sewing at home. Questions, contact Lynn Sachrison.
