JU MODE! - Faulty Thyssenkrupp Evolution Blue Lift @ Boyd Orr Building, University of Glasgow

Описание к видео JU MODE! - Faulty Thyssenkrupp Evolution Blue Lift @ Boyd Orr Building, University of Glasgow

This lift is one of a set of three Thyssenkrupp Evolution Blue lifts located at the Boyd Orr building at the University of Glasgow. All 3 lifts serve floors 2 - 11. I believe they travel at 1.6 m/s but it could be 2 m/s. They were installed in 2014.

The lifts are fairly nice. I like the blue buttons, although there is not much difference in colour when the button is pressed compared to when not pressed. The voice is ok on these lifts too.

The most interesting thing that happened in this video though is the JU mode! JU mode occurs when the lift loses its position within the shaft. The lift will then travel very slowly to the nearest floor where it will re find its position and then return to normal. The lift will normally enter JU mode when the safety circuit is broken whilst the lift is in motion, but in this case, that didn't happen. Of course it is possible that the lift broke its safety circuit by hitting something in the shaft but I don't think this happened. The lift entered JU mode in multiple separate points within the shaft which does not suggest that it was hitting something causing the safety circuit to brake. If it was hitting something in the shaft it would likely be in the same location each time, and it is unlikely that the lift is hitting something in multiple places in the shaft. Also, the lift appeared to enter JU mode before it even began to move which again does not suggest that the safety circuit was broken. Maybe there is a fault with this lift where it thinks the safety circuit is broken when it is not, or some other fault. What do you think is causing the lift to repeatedly enter JU mode? Leave your thoughts in the comments! (Also note that the lift entered JU mode a further 2 times off camera so it was a constant issue when I was there).

JU mode is an interesting feature. I may be wrong but I think only Thyssenkrupp lifts do this. Some lifts will not lose their position when safety is broken or they will very quickly re find their position without the need for slow speed JU mode. Some lifts will also shut down altogether so at least it was not one of those or I would have been stuck!
