What is Dental Abrasion?
Dental abrasion is the progressive loss of tooth structure due to mechanical forces, typically caused by improper brushing, biting hard objects, or using abrasive dental products. It is different from tooth erosion (caused by acids) and tooth attrition (caused by tooth-to-tooth contact).

Causes of Dental Abrasion
Incorrect Brushing Technique
Brushing too hard or using a hard-bristled toothbrush can wear down enamel, especially near the gumline.
Abrasive Toothpaste
Some whitening or charcoal-based toothpaste contain harsh abrasives that contribute to enamel wear.
