MAN racking system for mechanic

We have designed and installed an extensive number of racking systems for mobile mechanics but no two are the same. The reason is that people like to work in different ways,therefore a one design fits all approach is not really the answer. VRS work with each customer on an individual basis listening to what the customer wants and filling in the gaps with experience from previous builds.
The products used

The build starts with a replacement 12mm marine grade ply floor which provides a strong and stable base for the racking. VRS floors are anti slip and easy to keep clean plus lifts the overall appearance of the van. A full Polypropylene lining kit has been installed, its aesthetically pleasing appearance only requires a damp cloth wipe down occasionally to keep it looking fresh.
Drivers side racking

The bulkhead end starts with space for the ever popular Migi 502 combined compressor generator as detailed below. Above the Migi is a lockable cabinet and three levels of lift up covered storage. Middle section has open storage at floor level with a case secure system. Above there is a five drawer stack for tool storage. Rear section has covered wheel arch storage with eight more steel drawers arranged in a four plus four side by side configuration. A workbench often features in a racking design for a mobile mechanic and this build features a bench just under 1.3 mtr in length. Above the working surface is a row of open storage Lin bins for parts and consumables. Top level and running the full length of the van is a 3.5 mtr top tray with hinged end flap, ideal for difficult to store items.
Passengers side racking

Floor level has covered storage arranged in 1.5 mtr and 0.5 mtr individual compartments. As per the drivers side, drawers feature and provide a further eight individual steel drawers of mixed widths. All VRS supplied steel drawers get aluminium dividers and anti slip mats as standard. Accessible from the passengers side door are four side access drawers meaning tools and equipment can be at hand without having to get inside the van. Small parts storage is taken care of with a mixture of steel and plastic storage cases on slide out shelves. Each of the cases are supplied with colour coded mini storage bins, this helps to keep small parts safe and easily identifiable. Remaining space is filled with open shelving allowing the van operator to have quick access storage throughout the vehicle.
Electrical Installation

When our customers contact us to discuss what they need, they often ask us if we can help with auto electrics. We have an auto electrics design engineer on the VRS team so the answer is always yes!

This build included a full auto electrics pack, featuring a Kisae Sinewave 2000w 24v inverter. We include supporting low power protection modules, fusing, battery packs, DC/DC charger and of course a bespoke loom routed out of sight through the van.

Roadside mechanics and recovery vehicles need air and power, this usually involves two separate machines which tend to be space hungry, heavy and costly.
