Opposing protests clash in South Korea over movement to arrest impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol

Supporters and opponents of South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol gathered in Seoul on January 3, as the country’s anti-corruption agency suspended an attempt to arrest him after an hours-long standoff with presidential security.

Footage posted online shows crowds gathered outside Hangangjin Station, near to where Yoon resides.

Yoon faces a criminal investigation into his declaration of martial law on December 3.

According to local news, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials was expected to make another attempt to detain Yoon at the weekend.
