Описание к видео Raw Footage of Lockerbie Bombing Aftermath - Margaret Thatcher Visits Pan Am 103 Crash Site (1988)

On 22 December 1988, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher visited the crash site of Pan Am Flight 103 in the Scottish town of Lockerbie. The transatlantic flight had been flying over Lockerbie on 21 December when a bomb on board the plane detonated, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew. The plane's falling wreckage caused catastrophic damage to a number of houses in the town below, killing 11 residents. The Prime Minister was escorted around the windswept hill where the remnants of the plane's cockpit had landed, before she gave a brief press conference at the edge of the site. The bombing of Pan Am 103 is, to this day, the deadliest terrorist attack in UK history.
